Great value for academic use

As a first-time buyer from Subq AI, I was looking for the best value for my academic research. I applied for the academic discount and was pleased with the credit amount they provided. It made accessing their Compute-Efficient Inference and Memory-Efficient Training features very affordable. The overall cost-performance ratio for handling such large contexts is far superior to other options I've explored. It definitely felt worth the purchase given my budget constraints.

Consistent performance, good results

This wasn't my first time using Subq AI. I previously tried their Long Horizon Agents and this time I utilized the High-Throughput Inference API. The consistency across different services is what keeps me coming back. My initial experience was positive, and this one was too. The inference speeds were reliable, and the results for my tasks were as expected. It's good to see a company maintain its quality and performance over time. I appreciate that I can rely on their infrastructure for my projects.

Good experience with API

I used the Long-Context Retrieval API for a research project and overall, it was a smooth experience. Ordering the initial access was straightforward through their developer portal. I got the access credentials almost instantly. Delivery, in terms of API uptime and response times, was excellent; I didn't encounter any significant latency even with large context windows. The documentation for the API was clear and helped me integrate it quickly. Quality of the retrieval results was impressive for multi-million token documents, which was critical for my use case. I did have a small question about optimizing some queries, and their support team responded within a day with helpful suggestions. Usability of the API itself was good, the endpoints were intuitive. My only minor gripe was that the usage dashboard could be a bit more granular in its reporting, but that's a small thing. It performed as advertised.

Solid tech, needs better onboarding

I tried out the SubQ Model for a specific project. The core technology, especially the low-latency token processing, was very impressive and lived up to the hype. It really does handle long contexts efficiently. My main criticism would be the initial setup process; while not difficult, the documentation could be a bit more user-friendly for someone new to this specific type of AI deployment. I think a more guided walkthrough would be beneficial. Otherwise, the performance once everything was running was quite good and stable.

Fast access, good performance

Signed up for the free developer trial. Got access key quickly. Tested the Single Fact Retrieval 1-2M. It worked well. No issues with performance. Will consider full subscription.

Trying to figure out pricing for the multi-million token retrieval. Is it a flat fee or per token type deal?

S Susan Garcia 3 weeks ago
From what I remember, it's more usage-based, like per million tokens. Not a flat monthly thing unless you're on an enterprise plan.

I think it scales with volume. The bigger chunks of data you process, the more you pay, but they do have tiers.

How does this compare to, say, OpenAI's models for really long contexts? Is Subq actually faster/cheaper for that?

C Chloe Gomez 1 month ago
For long contexts, SubQ definitely feels more efficient. OpenAI can get pricey and slow when you push the token limits.

K Karen Flores 1 month ago
Yeah, I've heard SubQ is built specifically for those super long docs, where OpenAI starts to struggle with cost and speed. Their architecture is different.

Hey, wondering if anyone's tried their free developer trial? Is it actually useful or super limited?

A Alex Lewis 3 weeks ago
Yeah, I signed up a few weeks ago. It's pretty good for testing out the API, they give you enough credits to mess around with a few calls.

Totally. Not like some 'trials' that run out after 5 minutes. You can actually get a feel for it.

Is Subq AI a legit company or just another vaporware startup? Seems too good to be true with the efficiency claims.

S Sean C. 1 month ago
They're legit. Been following their progress for a while, seen them at conferences. Definitely real tech.

A Andrew 1 month ago
Definitely not vaporware. They've got actual models and APIs out there. The efficiency stuff is their whole selling point.

Are there any promo codes floating around for Subq? Looking to get a better deal on the API.

S Steven P. 4 weeks ago
Nah, never seen any actual promo codes for them. It's not really how they do discounts. You usually get credits directly applied.

J Julia Martinez 4 weeks ago
They don't use coupon codes afaik. It's more like, if you commit for a year or are a big enterprise, you get a break.

Can academic researchers get any special discounts or access to this? My university is looking into new LLMs.

L Linda Mitchell 1 month ago
Pretty sure they have something for academics. Saw a mention of research grants or academic discounts somewhere.

Yep, I'm a grad student and got some credits through a program. Check their site or just reach out to their team directly, they're usually responsive for research stuff.
